Brow Waxing, Shaping, and tweezing

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the brows are the beautiful trim that illuminates the windows. They're what best expresses your emotions. Well shaped brows are an asset that will balance your face, bringing your best features into focus and downplaying flaws (not that you have any). Changing your brow shape can even change the way people perceive you. Let one of our Brow Artists help you determine the best shape for you; its what they do best. Our Artists have been specifically trained to asses face and eye shapes to create the most beautiful brows for any face.

benefits of waxing

Waxing is a very quick, affordable, and safe way to remove hair. Waxing lasts way longer than shaving and is more sanitary than shaving. Some benefits include:

  • Less regrowth in between appointments; your skin will remain smoother for a longer period of time compared to shaving (no stubble a day later).

  • It is a form of gentle exfoliation, leaving skin smoother, softer, and brighter after every wax.

  • Your hair will grow back more sparse and fine.

  • Skin texture will greatly improve.

  • Less skin irritation and NO more itching!

  • Less ingrown hairs and no razor bumps/shaving rash.

Waxing Contraindications

Contraindications are specific reasons for a person to not get a particular treatment or service. In this case, some contraindications for waxing are:

  • If you’re taking antibiotics or any acne medications.

  • If you have used retinol in the passed 2 weeks. Waxing while using retinol can lift skin causing scarring.

  • Skin disorders/ diseases, such as eczema, psoriasis, scar tissue, ect.

  • Any warts, moles, or skin tags will be worked around and avoided.

  • Diabetes- some people with diabetes can have very sensitive skin that could make it thinner and harder to heal. Skin can be watched very closely to make sure it does not over-sensitize.

  • Sunburn

  • Use of tanning beds in last 24 hours prior to appointment.

  • If you are receiving cancer treatment (chemotherapy or radiation).

How to prepare for a wax

  • Don’t shave at least 3 weeks leading up to your appointment.

  • No alcohol 24 hours prior to appointment.

  • Exfoliate with a light sugar or salt scrub to get rid of any dead skin cells. This will help with better hair removal.

  • Hydrate! Drinking water will help soften the hair follicles and your skin, helping with less painful removal.

  • Wear comfortable and loose clothing to your appointment.

  • Plan around your menstrual cycle. You will be more sensitive and it can feel more painful.

PRE & POST CARE

PRE-WAX

  • Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long. That’s about the length of a grain of rice.

  • Don’t apply creams, lotions, or gels to the area being waxed the day of your appointment.

  • Don’t sunbathe 24 hours before or after your treatment. Tanning before treatment can cause the skin to lift.

  • If you have a low pain tolerance, take an aspirin or ibuprofen 30 min before your appointment to reduce discomfort.

  • Wear comfortable clothing/undies, you don’t want super tight clothing irritating your freshly waxed skin

POST-WAX

  • Don’t sunbathe for 24 hours before or after your treatment. Tanning after your treatment can cause irritation and even burns

  • Don’t use any products on the waxed area until the following day.

  • No swimming pool, hot tubs or sauna for 24 hours after waxing.

  • Keep hair follicles clean by showering immediately after exercise.

  • Moisturize the area daily with a natural hydrating and gentle body lotion.

  • Gently exfoliate every 3 days with a mitt and natural body wash.

  • If you’re prone to bumps or in-growns, use an in-grown treatment regimen that your Esthetician highly recommends.

  • Ice packs are helpful if there is any discomfort to sensitive areas that have been waxed for the first time
